Three Virginia Beach firefighters injured in a collapse at a house fire early Wednesday are expected to be OK.
They were hurt when crews returned to the residence for a rekindle of a garage fire hours earlier, according to WAVY.
About 10 p.m., firefighters encountered heavy fire and smoke coming from an attached garage, which quickly spread to the attic. Crews declared the fire out by 10:53 p.m.
At 4:16 a.m. firefighters returned to find the house fully engulfed in fire.
During the operation, an exterior wall collapsed and left three firefighters injured. All were transported and are expected to recover.
The residents weren't home when the second fire occurred as they had left after the garage fire.
The cause is under investigation.
